On 17th May 2019 the project ‘Sports training for all’ – ST4ALL was presented to athletes with disabilities, members of the the RIJEKA SPORTS ASSOCIATION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES when the education about importance of sport for all, especially for people with disabilities, was held.

It is of great importance that persons with disabilities get into some sporting activities, since that will influence their quality of life, socialization, self-confidence, motor skills, physical state, and this will in turn alleviate everyday barriers the person encounters. Trainings improve concentration, positively influence mental stability, results are achieved that can have a motivating influence on the development of independence and personality in general. Through training, a professional level can be reached, as well as success on a national, european, world level, and even the Paralympic games.

Other than having a positive influence on the health of everyone, especially persons with disabilities, sport helps persons with disabilities to get to know themselves, their talents, which they get to improve by training, they get to surpass barriers and enrich their sporting and social life. Sport gives them a sense of belonging.

Bearing in mind that more and more pupils and students with disabilities are being included into educational institutions and organizations of young people without disabilities and are getting into the sporting activities, the professors and trainers are dealing with the problem of insufficient education regarding inclusive sports. The goal of the project ‘Sports training for all’ – ST4ALL is, therefore, to educate professors and trainers about organizing inclusive sporting activities. It is considered that it is precisely these types of activities that could be crucial for the inclusion into the community at large.
