Project ‘Sports training for all’ – ST4ALL presented to representatives of kindergartens

On 30th of May 2019, the meeting with representatives of kindergartens was held, where the Project ‘Sports training for all’ – ST4ALL was presented, as well as the importance of sports activities in kindergartens. It was discussed the importance of the inclusion of children with disabilities in sports activities.

Sport is a tool of early integration and rehabilitation for children with developmental difficulties; it help in their socialization and raises their self-confidence.

When these children are included in sporting activities, it builds their physical and intellectual abilities as well.

For children with developmental difficulties, sport is a form of work and physical therapy. By exercising they improve their physical and psychological state and also create new friendships, working habits and develop their capacity for cooperation and team spirit.

Those children who train and go to competitions, apart from fighting to get the result, get the chance to get to know the outside world better. By coming to the hotels, they have a chance to practice their behaviour towards other children and the hotel staff, their capacity to get things done on their own, without the help of their parents. This ranges from personal hygiene, keeping their rooms and belongings tidy, to getting the results they want in sports. It is therefore clear that doing sports helps children with disabilities develop a wide array of behaviours, abilities and feelings that will benefit them greatly outside of sports arena.

This development can soon be seen even from the outside because children quickly repay the chances given to them with laughter and joy. The chance to give them such joy should motivate all of us to try even harder in the future.

Bearing in mind that more and more pupils and students with disabilities are being included into educational institutions and organizations of young people without disabilities and are getting into the sporting activities, the professors and trainers are dealing with the problem of insufficient education regarding inclusive sports. The goal of the project ‘Sports training for all’ – ST4ALL is, therefore, to educate professors and trainers about organizing inclusive sporting activities. It is considered that it is precisely these types of activities that could be crucial for the inclusion into the community at large. Eight partners are taking part in the project ‘Sports training for all’ – ST4ALL, coming from these countries: Bulgaria, Turkey, Belgium and Austria and Croatia. The main partner of the project is the University of Plovdiv, Paisii Hilendarski from Bulgaria, while Croatia is represented by the RIJEKA SPORTS ASSOCIATION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.

The budget of the project ‘Sports training for all’ – ST4ALL is 355 643 euros, and is cofinanced by the EU through the programme Erasmus + Sport – Collaborative Partnership. The period for costs permissibility lasts from January 1st, 2018 until June 30th, 2020. eligibility of costs started on 1. January 2018., and is ending on 30. June 2020.
